Last year, WMT together with Rhubarb Magazine, held a playwriting competition which invited submissions of one-act plays on Mennonite themes or by Mennonite playwrights. The judges, Maureen Hunter and Patrick Friesen, awarded the winning prize to Wine and Little Breads by Armin Wiebe.

In Armin Wiebe’s drama, Wine and Little Breads, directed by Ben Wiebe, a preacher’s wife goes on a routine call to a member of her community only to find herself confronting her past.
For the Greater Glory, directed by Peter Spence and Henry Schroeder, is a semi-biographical drama about a determined conscientious objector during WWII and what happens to him and his family because of his beliefs.
The comedy, The Funeral, directed by Henri Enns, puts well-meaning neighbours into a tizzy when one of their sons befalls a terrible accident, setting into motion a series of troubles in the wake.
